6 Cities and Towns in Uganda to Explore This Season

Uganda is an East African country known for its thrilling gorilla trekking adventures, enchanting landscape and dozens of scenic waterfalls. Some cities and towns in Uganda are quite popular. These cities and towns are:

  • Entebbe

Entebbe is one of the main towns in Uganda. It is located in the Central Region of the county, about 37km from the capital, Kampala. The country’s major international airport, Entebbe International Airport, is located here. Entebbe sits on the shores of Lake Victoria.  In addition to the lake, another place of interest in Entebbe is the National Botanical Gardens.

  • Kampala

Mbarara is located in the Western Region of Uganda, and it is the largest town in that region. This town is a stop-over for guests en-route to destinations like Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth national parks.

  • Jinja

Jinja has one of the largest economies in the region. It is about 81km from the capital, and it is set on the shores of Lake Victoria. Jinja is famous for its industries, and they include electricity generation, brewery, sugar and steel manufacturing. Things to do in Jinja include white-water rafting and bungee jumping.

  • Mbale

Mbale is located about 245km from Kampala. Attractions near this town include Mount Elgon National Park, Wanala Forest Reserve, Simu and Sisi falls.

  • Fort Portal

Fort Portal, set at the base of Rwenzori Mountains, is your access point to attractions like Kibale, Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi national parks. Additionally, Fort Portal is near Kibale’s exotic rainforest. Things to do in this town include cave exploration and game excursions in Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary.
